Unveiling The Black Beauty… (Part 3)

Monday, May 12th, 2008

NOTE:
- Please Read Part 1 first then Part 2 to enjoy the 3 part chapter. Thank you.

It’s 6
in the evening, my hands are itchy. As I look on, it’s time to undress her
again. Slowly, gently… I put her out of her coat. My hands slip in, parted her
thin white clothe and I was able to see her the way I have never look before.
She was embarrassed, I smile and with a little smirk, my fingers touch her. Her
surface was a wonder that excites me, lush and with a soft faint from her, a
moan.

I take
my time to place her where she’s suppose to be, hook her up well that
essentially turns her on. And as she lights up, I remain silent and her first
word was – Playstation.

What
can I say that this black beauty is a wonder of wonders. Playstation 3 has
shown it’s potential in may features you will never expect. For one, it has
certain features similar to Playstation Portable. For another, it has
everything that you need that has lots of benefits from it. Here is the list of
what you gain from a PS3:-

1). It
runs very well in Blue Tooth
2).
You can hook up your PSP to PS3, and also now able to play PS & PS2 games
(since it’s an Asian console, only console version are playable except PS3
games, which is Region Free)
3). Don’t need to always buy official Sony products that is expensive.
4). It
has Blu Ray player
5).
Internet Browser able (runs quite alright)
6).
Playstation Store is fun and user friendly (now better looking too)
7).
Playing online is free!
8).
HDMI able – all you need is just the cable
9).
You can utilize USB port fully (whether it’s Pendrive, keyboard or mouse)
10).
Headsets are Blue Tooth capable
11).
Downloads are much faster compare to Xbox 360
12). A
whole lot of fun (since everything is in HD)

There
are some bad points:-

1).
The wireless controller is very light!
2).
Each new game you bought, you need to install it in and it takes quite a long
time to finish (at most is 15 minutes!)
3).
Although the Blu Ray player is Region Free, DVD player itself is Region Lock
4).
Don’t ever get any dust on the surface, you clean it and it scratches easily

Accessories_and_games

The accessories for Playstation 3 (wireless SinAxis controller, DualShock 3, Blu Ray Playstation 3 Remote Controller & Playstation Eye Camera), one Blade Runner (5 Disc Ultimate Collection Blu Ray), and two games (Grand Theft Auto 4 & Dark Sector)

I
spend quite a long time with PS3 and played Dark Sector, which is rather fun.
Test out everything on PS3 (not entirely) and I find my black beauty is a
console I should have invested a long time ago instead of Xbox 360. Yes, I will
miss Gears of War 2 for sure, but then… what will PS3 unveil remains to be
seen. I’m sure, they will return with more firepower than before and when that
happens, I will be there to stay and laugh it out.

My
second marriage… and so far, it’s been good.

Unveiling The Black Beauty… (Part 2)

Monday, May 12th, 2008

NOTE:-
Please Read Part 1 first to enjoy the 3 part chapter. Thank you.

It was
3pm when I stop by to ask for her. There she was, hiding among 2 other black
cuteys and 1 white pretty gal. But my black beauty was just shy and when he
shows her to me… I was… breathless.

Well,
not really. After all, I have been expecting her for a long time. As she
undresses, a bright light blinds me and with such anticipation, I manage to
look and be awe the shape of her body. Yes, she is gutsy and beautiful in many
ways that I would consider her… shapely.

Well…
a Playstation 3 it is shapely and shiny in one sense. Chuckle.

After
I had sold all my games and accessories of my Xbox 360, I manage on the same
day bought a PS3 (short for Playstation 3). I believe I spent more than an hour
over at Gamer’s Hideout, a retail shop that deals with original games at Cathay
Cineleisure Mall, situated in Damansara Mutiara just to update and test my
machine. While my console was doing some test runs, I went over to a DVD shop
that sells Blu Ray and bought myself Blade Runner 5 Disc Ultimate Collection.
Back again, it’s still updating. So I try out one of the finest games of PS3 –
Rock Band. Seriously, this game rocks (although I hate the guitar controller)
and will require 3 other friends to play with (one to sing, one to play the
second guitar and one to play the drums). Of course, the option of playing
online is there too and it’s fun. The only problem would be the cost – it’s
super expensive!

Ah, my
console is done updating and some test runs. What’s next? Buying the
accessories I require – a DualShock 3 SinAxis Wireless Controller, a
Playstation Eye Camera, a Playstation 3 Blu Ray remote and 1 HDMI Cable. Next,
would be the games I want to start of with.

I
manage to pick up Grand Theft Auto 4 (one of the rarest games ever to reach 10
out of 10 in rating and now the biggest bestseller since Halo 3) and Dark
Sector. I wanted to try out Resistance but was put off by some other gamer,
telling me it’s not the game I should start of with. So with that in hand,
happy with all the selected games I have bought so far… I finally made my vows
to the priest and got my shotgun marriage!

So
without further ado, no wedding dinners and jump straight to bed – I unveil my
black beauty… and the things I do to her… well, that would be in Part 3. Read
on… ;)

Unveiling The Black Beauty… (Part 1)

Monday, May 12th, 2008

It was
1 year 5 months ago I married my first next generation. Before then, we were
just dating for a while, courting each other and teasing from a far. Three
months ago, not long before that we argue. It was a huge disappointment and
after we work things out, in the end it never work out at all. I hold on so
long just hope, there is a glimpse of light that she and I can stay together
forever but I knew it was never meant to be. I finally do the worst thing
possible – asking for divorce.

Oh
wait, you are asking “since when

Duncan

is married?!?” Chuckle. Of course I am not. I am just saying goodbye to my
first next generation – Microsoft’s Xbox 360.

Yes,
it died in me. Well, the console did not die… just yet. It’s just not working
too well. All thanks to Microsoft and the ironic part is – it’s not even 3ROD
(better known as 3 Ring of Death). For those who do not know what it means,
3ROD is a term of hardware failure. Means there is no point reviving, no point
saving… a silent death cry. In other words – kaput.

But my
unit was not kaput – it was barely hanging.  Mine was a System Error E 74 – an error that
is rare among Xbox 360 owners around the world. In another term, it’s 1ROD. The
red light indicator is telling me that my Anatech chip (Audio Visual Chip) is
not working because of accumulation of heat that it made the chip too hot and
my fan isn’t working too well to cool it down. Hence, the audio and visual
display is not working properly. This was since last March I sent my unit for
repairs, a month later it was working again. But a month later nearly end of
April, I faced the same problem. It’s been 2 weeks since I sent it for repairs
and I have yet to hear anything so far except impending doom.

I sat
down and think – should I keep on continuing holding on to a console that since
at the beginning already have so much problems that Microsoft have yet to
perfect it? My investment on purchased games, download patches and add-ons and
maps, my display themes and avatars, favorite movie trailers and music I download
to, the Microsoft online money I purchase to download stuff, the thousand of
hours I have spent on playing and work it up so hard to reach 15, 089 Gamer
Score, an achievement I am so proud of in my period of playing and the monthly
online subscription that I paid to use their services for email messages, chat
and able to play multiplayer function online. Not to mention, 54 friends I have
made… 1/3 of them I hardly play but 2/3s of them at a good run of games like
Gears of War, Rainbow Six Vegas 1 & 2 and lots more. All the memories –
good and bad from it – I have kept with it. A good run indeed in 2007 that made
me happy and at times, made me sad too. Not to mention, a bad break that came
from it.

And
just like that… it’s gone in a blink of an eye based on one decision – my
decision. I have to let it all go.

Now,
questionnaire time:-

Do I
feel sad?

- Yes
a little.

Do I
feel I am going to miss a lot of current and upcoming games for 360?

- Hell
yes.

Will I
miss my achievement whoring days?

- Of
course (I was aiming to brag my 20k this year even).

Will I
miss my friends from 360?

-
Definitely of course.

In the
end, will you miss sorely of your 360?

- Yes
(but definitely not for a long term)

Some of the games I have invested and played… now all sold.

With
what I had decided and what I am going to do next, at least it is not at all a
lost cause. I manage to sell off all my games and accessories at a price I have
no choice but to slash. At least 1/3 of its original price at its loss. But
with the money I earn back, I recently met someone… beautiful. She’s bigger, gutsier
and the beauty of it all – she’s black. And shiny smooth that when you run your
finger on the surface, you will know how what inner beauty means. Who am I
talking about? Well… read on in the second part.

Free Movie Tickets Anyone?

Thursday, May 1st, 2008

What does it take to watch a movie for free? Here’s a hint:-

1). Read the newspaper/magazine; join an online website and participate a contest or just print out & listen to a local radio and participate the contest on live air (sometimes SMS is required to get the free movie tickets that this one cost money)

2). Line up at the designated area where the only rule is first come first serve; sometimes require identification

3). After collecting the free complimentary tickets, go to the cinema (either Golden Screen Cinema, Tanjong Golden Village or Cathay Cineleisure) and watch the movie at a certain date and time

Very simple right? And it happens in Malaysia apparently, partly become a culture here that is very popular among the citizens especially in one state which is Selangor Darul Ehsan.

Dsc00058_2

I have collected in the past so many movie complimentary vouchers/tickets and watch almost a lot of movies for free, which was pretty good. When we go collect for a free movie show, I need to cut out from a newspaper article that mentions about that movie and/or with a cut out for the free movie, and redeem at least 2 tickets each. Usually, the maximum you can collect is only up to 1 voucher/article for 2 free tickets. That is on average the most. But sometimes, you are lucky to receive at most 4 tickets at one voucher or win them and other times, only 1 movie ticket.

Once you have this in hand, you need to go to certain locations to redeem them. Most of the time are in local cinemas where a table is readied and you need to queue for it. It becomes a first come first serve basis. After that, once you get the complimentary tickets, you will wait at least an hour to watch this movie and then, voila - you got yourself a free movie to watch. On average, most of the time a free movie is shown either very early in the morning or at night. Other times, getting the free movie complimentary passes, sometimes it does say you can only watch it when the movie is free listed. So it is important to check the dates of the movies you got it for free.

Dsc00059_1

If you are lucky, you might be able to watch box-office hit movies like I did (Transformers, Cloverfield, Shrek 3 and recently, Iron Man) which was pretty good. At best, you’ll get glossy covers and expensive print out vouchers. But at times, when we go for premiere movies such as these, the cinema halls subject to security check on patrons in any case of recording materials that maybe carried into the cinema hall. After all, piracy is quite popular in Asia.

There is a few pet peeves on watching free movies. Whenever you got a free movie to watch, you need to know whether there are any seating numbering or whether it is given to you as free seating. When it comes to free seating, we need to rush in with so many others and get your seats. Seating in front can be a bit of a problem. It does for numbered seating because if you are not lucky, you will watch very close to the silver screen.

Another pet peeves is when collecting free complimentary tickets, you might meet selfish people who will cut line just for the sake of getting free movie tickets. And at worst, no crowd control even. This will lead to unwanted argues and even, shouting match.

But with some good and bad points in watching free movies, is it worth our while to go through such troubles, especially when the venue time and date is on weekday nights or weekend mornings and if its a week day after work? That’s entirely up to us seriously.

Still, free movies are very popular and it’s on an increase rate more people will go for it even though seats are limited. Sometimes you will even meet familiar faces who always go for free movies. In any case, I am not sure other countries do practice this but in Malaysia, it has become part of culture because… if its free, why not grab it?
